KOCHI:  The preparation of the draft plan for the second phase of development of the Brahmapuram solid waste treatment plant has been completed. <p>According to the plan, the civic body will construct a unit to produce crude oil from plastic waste and a substation to generate electricity from the waste in the second phase of expansion.</p>

KOCHI: Kochi is facing an acute LPG shortage. Back-to-back strikes by a section of employees and contractors have put LPG consumers, particularly Indane users, in a fix. With the house-keeping staff of IOC starting another strike at plants in Kochi, Kollam and Kozhikode the situation has become worse. The strike which started in Kochi on Tuesday extended to two other plants on Wednesday.
KOLLAM: The Kerala State Electricity Board is incurring a loss of Rs 450 crore per year because of faulty meters. According to a survey conducted by the INTUC-led Kerala Electricity Employees Confederation, the number of faulty meters in the state is around 22 lakh.

KOCHI: The Gas Authority of India will sign an agreement for distribution of liquified natural gas (LNG) to Fertilisers And Chemicals Travancore (FACT) and Kayamkulam Thermal Power Corporation from the Puthuvype LNG terminal by the end of this month. The decision regarding this was taken at a high-level meeting attended by T K A Nair, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
