KOCHI: Former President A P J Abdul Kalam has said that the creation of a separate union ministry for fisheries was essential for providing impetus to the fisheries sector.

Plan@Earth, the NGO working for the environment, partnered with ITC Ltd to launch a solid paper waste collection programme in Kochi last year. The project called WOW (Wealth Out of Waste) was launched in the city last year.
