As many as 236 villages in 13 districts of the State have been reeling under acute drinking water shortage. A sum of Rs 19 crore has been released to supply water through tankers to these villages.
ROURKELA: The parched Sundargarh district, which was heading for a deeper water crisis, heaved a sigh of relief after a good spell of rain last night and this morning. Except the district headquarters town of Sundargarh, other parts of the district reported heavy to moderate rainfall leading to a rise in water level in various natural water bodies.

KOLKATA, 5 May: The Union ministry of rural development will launch a scheme where basic urban amenities will be provided in rural areas through the public private partnership model. The scheme will be called Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA).
