Almost 80 per cent people of the city and adjoining areas have not received drinking water for ten days and as many as 13 demonstrations were held by the affected people from Thursday to Sunday outside the offices of union councils and district council. Local resdients obstructed Sailekh Bazaar stretch of Dashrath Chand Highway in Baitadi district on Sunday protesting the shortage of drinking water at local taps. Accusing the people of Angna-5 village in northeastern district of Panchthar of not voting for their party, cadres of Maoists have cut the pipe of drinking water forcing the locals to trek four hours to fetch water. At least one person died and 11,861 others infected with diarrhoea in past seven days, according to the control room of the health directorate that complies reports from public hospitals in districts.
