As a result of the continuing heavy rains several areas in the Batticaloa District, in Eastern Sri Lanka have been severely flooded. The Disaster Management Center (DMC) of Sri Lanka said that most of the families at Kaththankudi, Ariyampathi, Wellawalai and Eravur have been displaced due the floods.
