New Delhi Reliance is expected to source ultra heavy crude from the Orinoco oil belt The country’s largest private oil and gas explorer, Reliance Industries, signed a 15-year oil supply contract with Venezuela’s state oil company, PDVSA, in Caracas on Tuesday. Venezuela’s Orinoco oil belt is expected to supply up to 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day to India to boost energy requirements of the country. Reliance is supposed to source ultra heavy crude from the Orinoco oil belt that will also help Venezuelan state-owned petroleum company to increase production.

A completed deal by a group that includes producers Oil and Natural Gas Corp and Oil India Ltd , along with refiner and retailer Indian Oil Corp , would be the first in Canada for Indian energy companies after years of strong public expressions of interest in the Alberta oil sands.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has drawn up a ‘Perspective Plan 2030’ to invest Rs.11 lakh-crore over the next 18 years. Talking to newsmen here on Monday, Chairman and Managing Director Sudhir Vasudeva said the plan envisaged doubling of production over the next 18 years at 4-5 per cent. “The plan also includes a four-fold growth in market capitalisation, and a six-fold growth in production from international operations. All this will require an investment of Rs.11,00,000 crore,” he said.
Mumbai Cairn India’s plans for enhancing oil production from its Rajasthan block is likely to drive the domestic crude oil production by 3.1% in FY13, a Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) survey has said. “The domestic crude oil production is likely to grow by 3.1% in 2012-13. (Even though) the oil output during the April-July period declined 0.6%, the growth is likely to recover in the coming months mainly on account of Cairn India,” CMIE said in its monthly report.
