GUWAHATI: As on March 31, 2011, Assam had 40 working PSUs and 10 non-working PSUs. The PSUs registered a turnover of Rs 2,647.54 crore for 2010-11.
This turnover was equal to 2.54 per cent of the State GDP, indicating the important role played by the State’s PSUs in the economy. The PSUs earned a profit of Rs 2.22 crore for 2010-11 and had accumulated losses of Rs 1,091.09 crore, said the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report (Report No. 4) on the State Finances of Assam for the financial year that ended on March 31, 2011.
