Bhubaneswar: The South Korean steel major POSCO has changed its strategy in implementing the 12 million tonne steel project in Orissa. The company has delinked the mines from the project and decided to go ahead with the project construction instead of waiting for the mines to start the work.

A day after clear indications of plant work beginning early next year, Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS) on Thursday announced that the agitation against the project will continue till it is shelved.
Akshaya Kumar Sahoo Aug. 26: South Korean steel major Pohang Steel Company (Posco) on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of shifting its 12-million-tonne integrated steel plant site from Kujang area near Paradip in Orissa to some other locations in the country.
Aug. 19: The Orissa government has started taking renewed interest in expediting the land acquisition work for the proposed Posco steel project after the company agreed to begin peri-pheral work such as the construction of a 10-km-long marine line road. The road was considered important to transport raw materials to the proposed steel plant.
PARADIP: District administration has taken initiative to expedite land acquisition and other activities for establishment of Posco steel project. The administration held a review meeting with Posco officials and Revenue officials recently in this regard.
Mines Minister B K Handique today said that South Korean steel plant Posco, facing problems of land acquisition in Orissa, will be moving to a different place. "Posco has told me that (it is) moving to a different place as (it is) facing problems in acquiring land," he said.
