<p>This new study released by the Centre for Development Finance, IFMR, and IIT Madras evaluates the design of the eight climate missions of the country as developed by individual ministries using the principles laid out in the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) of the Prime Minister’s Council.</p>
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Tuesday chaired the meeting of National Council on Climate Change. The meeting was held to discuss one of the eight missions underlined under the National Action Plan on Climate Change -- National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change (NMSKCC). India wants to develop indigenous skills, knowledge and capacities in the science of climate change.

He chaired a meeting of the National Council on Climate Change to give shape to the National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change and underlined the importance of developing our own skills, knowledge and capacities in the science of climate change. He suggested an integrated approach to capacity building.
This mission document by Ministry of S&T got in-principle approval by PM's council on climate change. It is amongst 8 missions under NAPCC and is aimed at networking existing knowledge institutions, capacity building & improving understanding of key climate processes and climate risks.
