SMC starts building 11K houses for urban poor
As a part of on going campaign of making Surat 'Zero Slum' city, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has started construction of 2,500 houses at 11 places in the city. Construction for another 2,000 homes of 1 BHK in economically weaker section (EWS) and low-income group (LIG) category would begin by Monday. Work for remaining 6,500 of the total of 11,000 homes would begin by February 1. There will be 3,000 EWS and 8,000 LIG houses built .
