The renewable energy sector in India, led by the wind energy segment, is seeing a rebound in investment with around five deals worth $500 million (approximately . 3,000 crore) being sealed in 2013. In contrast, there has not been a single deal in the conventional energy segment. “Investors are shying away from conventional energy due to policy uncertainties and lack of fuel linkage. While the government has been flat-footed on thermal energy, it is encouraging renewable energy, making the sector attractive for investors,” said Vish Narain, partner at global private investment firm TPG.
The new order will take ONGC toral installed wind power capacity to 153.9 MW Suzlon Group, India's largest wind turbine manufacturer, has received an order for a 102.9 MW project from Oil & natural gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC). Wind energy major Suzlon on Thursday said its lenders, comprising 19 banks led by the SBI, have approved its proposal to rejig Rs 9,500 crore of domestic debt, providing a big relief to financially troubled company. "The empowered group of corporate debt restructuring (CDR) cell comprising 19 lenders today formally approved our CDR proposal to recast Rs 9,500 crore of domestic debt. The package is effective from October 1, 2012 and does not include our foreign currency debt," Suzlon said in a statement.

Suzlon's REpower Systems SE will deliver 51 wind turbines to six projects Suzlon Group subsidiary, REpower Systems SE, announced today it has concluded a contract with wpd Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of project developer wpd AG, for the delivery of 51 wind turbines.
