Hyderabad: The National Environmental Appellate Authority (NEAA) on Thursday quashed the environmental clearance given to Nagarjuna Construction Company for setting up of a thermal power plant at Sompet, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. Further course of action is expected to be decided on the receipt of the certified copy of the judgement from the authorities.
Visakhapatnam, Juy 14: With the agitation against NCC turning violent at Sompeta, the state government may have to rethink its strategy for other thermal power projects coming up in Srikakulam. Srikakulam was chosen for many mega projects because government land was abundantly available and the plants would have close proximity to railway main line and Vizag ports.
