A hydroelectric power generation project in Mizoram is set to secure viability gap funding (VGF) from the Centre. This would be the first such instance in the country. The funding for the power plant is likely to be approved at a meeting of the Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) on Thursday. Currently, Mizoram does not have any installed capacity in the hydropower segment.
The Haryana Government has decided to give financial assistance of `12,000 per acre to those flood-hit farmers, who have suffered substantial loss of land due to landslides and change of course of rivers during floods in 2010. Announcing this here today, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said out of this financial assistance, `6,000 per acre would be provided from the calamity relief fund.
