Rs.5-crore tourism project for Kottayam
Plan includes walkway by the Meenachil river Half a dozen tourism projects are being implemented in the district at a cost of Rs. 5 crore by District Tourism Promotion Council this year. Top on the agenda is the Thazhathangadi Beautification Project, being taken up at a cost of Rs.72.23 lakh. According to Jijo John, secretary of DTPC, the project will be implemented by KITCO and work will commence in a month.

Health Minister Adoor Prakash said here on Monday that government was ready to extend the comprehensive health plan to all districts of the State from January 15. Addressing a press conference here, the Minister said that the first phase of the programme had been initiated in Alappuzha district.
