  • Order of the Supreme Court of India regarding Jallikattu or bullock cart races, 12/01/2016

    <p><span style="font-size: 9.5pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Supreme Court on January 12, 2016 &nbsp;restrained the Tamil Nadu government from conducting its traditional bull-taming sport Jallikattu, and stayed the Centre&rsquo;s notification lifting the ban on it</span></p> <p>Supreme Court directs that there shall be stay of Notification dated 7th January, 2016 (which stated that bulls may be continue to be exhibited or trained as a performing animal, at events such as Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu and bullock cart races in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Haryana, Kerala and Gujarat in the manner by the customs of any community or practiced traditionally under the customs or as a part of culture, in any part of the country subject to the following conditions) issued by the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, until further orders.</p>
