Around 14 lakh people marooned, 16 districts affected by floods
Indian Air Force, Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are being engaged in relief and rescue work The flood situation remained grim in the State on Monday with more new areas submerged across 16 districts, including some parts of Guwahati city, marooning nearly 14 lakh people in the State. A total of 1,972 villages had come under floodwaters, official sources said. The government has opened 169 relief camps for the marooned, the sources said, adding that over 2.31 lakh people were staying in these relief camps.
