  • Provide facilities to farmers: Implement CM's directives

    Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given directives to the concerned departments for proper transportation and storage of wheat crop. The CM emphasised that it is necessary to procure maximum quantity of wheat on support price for ensuring success of Annapurna yojna. Under this scheme wheat is being supplied at the rate of Rs 3 per kg to poor families from fair price shops. The CM is concerned over facilities to farmers at mandis.

  • Special protection to wildlife near water sources

    The state government has issued instructions for providing special protection to wild animals near sources of water. In this connection, all the Territorial Conservators of Forests (Wildlife) have been directed to identify the water sources where wild animals come to quench their thirst and make special arrangements for wild animals' protection there.

  • Villagers should get direct profit of forest produce trade

    Forest Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah has said that the trade in minor forest produced should be promoted and its profits must reach the villagers directly. Kunwar Vijay Shah reviewed the activities of Rajya Laghu Vanopaj Sangh after assuming the charge of its chairman today. He also underlined the need of increasing Tendu Patta collection and early payment of incentive money to Tendu Patta collectors. Those present on the occasion included Principal Secretary Forest Shri Prashant Mehta, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri V.R. Khare, managing director Shri Ramesh K.

  • Committe for Narmada Parikrama path

    A committee has been constituted comprising officers of concerning departments for development of Parikrama Path of Narmada river and for providing facilities to the pilgrims undertaking the Parikrama. Divisional Forest Officer Shri Pankaj Shrivastava would be the member-secretary of the committee. It would chalk out an action plan for construction of the Parikrama Path.

  • Saving water is top priority: Raghavji

    State Finance Minister Raghavji presiding over a block level conference under Jalabhishek Abhiyan at village Raipur under Funda Block dedicated an additional room in government high school. The in charge Minister of Bhopal, Raghavji, MP, Kailash Joshi and MLA, Bhaktpal Singh performed Bhoomi Poojan of pond's deepening under Rashtriya Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Scheme of Rs 1,00,000 and construction work of three wells with cost of Rs 3,56,000.

  • State bus transport in private hands

    With the de-nationalisation of remaining 171 roads in the State, entire bus transport facility of Madhya Pradesh will come into the hands of private undertakings by June 1. "In the State, out of the 681 nationalised routes, 510 routes were already deleted from the nationalised scheme after the state government in February 2005 decided in principle to close down the Madhya Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (MPRTC). Now the remaining 171 nationalised routes will be de-nationalised by May 30", said Himmat Kothari, Minister for State Transport.

  • Maximum procurement of wheat must: CM

    The Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that it is necessary to procure maximum quantity of wheat on support price for ensuring success of Mukhya Mantri Annapurna Yojana, under which wheat would be supplied at the rate of Rs three per kg to poor families from fair price shops. Keeping this target in mind, commissioners, collectors and all the concerning officers must act on a war footing and make concerted arrangements for immediate payment to farmers apart from transportation and storage of wheat.

  • Power and water crisis: Need to curb wastage

    People are beginning to feel the effect of scorching heat in the very beginning of April. Most of the wells have dried. There is no water in ponds. Either the hand pumps give impure water or they have started to go out of order. Water crisis is also prevailing in cities. In several cities water has become a scarce commodity. Water level of big reservoirs are decreasing rapidly. Dams are in deteriorating condition. The members of municipal corporations and municipal councils often argue with one another. Water is being sold in all the big cities including capital.

  • View Point: Activists to move HC against Amitabh

    "We will seek justice in the honourable High Court of Bombay" said Dr Shekhar Salkar, General Secretary of National Organization for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE). "Amitabh Bachchan was clearly shown smoking a cigar [in 'Family' film] in all the display-hoardings prominently. This amounts to clear and unambiguous breach of the law prevalent within the state and the country. However the session court did not appreciate the view of NOTE India, thereby absolving the respondents of the charges" added Dr Salkar.

  • National Tribal University at Amarkantak

    Indira Gandhi National Tribal University is being established at Amarkantak. The state government has provided 21 acre land for this university. Foundation stone of the university would be laid by Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh on April 19. Those who would be specially present on the occasion include Commercial Tax Minister Babulal Gaur, Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, Leader of the Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Ms Jamuna Devi and MP Dalpat Singh Paraste. Famous Gandhian philosopher, Dr SN Subbarao would preside over the function.
