Supply chain is a bridge to connect the producers and customers: in-between many processes have to be carried out. In the present global village, supply chain plays a significant role in trade and commerce. One of the most important factors to determine the success of supply chain is availability of better infrastructural facilities, particularly transport sector.
The sarus crane, a bird species characteristic of wetlands, is categorized as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. In India, sarus cranes occur mostly outside protected areas and use these unprotected areas for feeding and breeding. They are consequently threatened by poaching and the destruction of their eggs and juveniles.
The present investigation deals with the analysis of physico-chemical characteristics, concentration of heavy metals and textural analysis of sediments in Poovar estuary of Kerala during the period 2004-2005. Three sampling stations were selected and sediments were collected for the study.
Ground water samples from 83 villages in Honnali taluk of Davangere district were analyzed for their suitability for irrigation purpose with special reference to presence of fluoride content. Ground water in the study area was classified according to sodium adsorption ratio and electrical conductivity.
The present study is aimed at assessing the bridge project, ensure adverse environmental impacts be identified and evaluated in the earlier stage of the project development so as to develop appropriate measures including alternative alignments and designs to avoid, mitigate, reduce or otherwise minimize the adverse impacts to acceptable levels for a bridge across Ennore creek of 720 m length and s
The city of Chennai has to make herculean tasks to overcome the transportation problems created in the city because of the spatial and economic growth experienced in the city during the last decade. Water scarcity is a severe and growing problem in Dhaka, especially in the summers when, except for some rich areas of the city, 90 percent of the city's residents face water shortages, 60 percent of whom face acute crisis. There is no regular water supply in most of the neighbourhoods even during "normal" times, and people are also not satisfied with the quality of water.
The ground water samples collected from different tehsils of Ujjain district were analysed in the laboratory for electrical conductivity (EC), pH, cations (Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+) and anions (CO32-, HCO3-, Cl- and SO42-). The ground water quality map of the district was generated using ERDAS-IMAGINE 8.7 software showing different categories.
The physico-chemical characteristics of Kohargaddi dam water were studied during July 06-June 07. Seasonal variations in water quality parameters in rainy, winter and summer seasons. The result revealed that there were significant seasonal variations in some physico-chemical parameters. The result indicated poor status of water during summer, rainy and winter season.
Evaluation of different physico-chemical parameters of surface water samples, covering the entire industrial area of Hosur (Tamil Nadu), is carried out to assess the suitability of the water for irrigation purposes. Samples are collected during August 2005 to June 2006. Results of the present investigation are compared with the Wilcox standard value and Ayers and Westcott standard value.
