Bhubaneswar: South Korean Ambassador to India Kim Joong-Keun on Wednesday said Seoul was waiting for New Delhi's proposal for setting up a nuclear energy station in India. "We in Korea were expecting it but because of the not very positive atmosphere around nuclear power and energy, we are waitiung for India's proposal in this regard," he said, while replying to a question here by reporters.

Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) chairman Srikumar Banerjee said that the most valuable uranium ore in the country was in M. Tummalapalle in Kadapa district.

He formally launched an uranium ore mine and processing plant at M. Tummalapalle in Vemula mandal of Kadapa district on Friday. Speaking to mediapersons on the occasion, he said that they had detected valuable uranium ore in the area in 2004, and the then chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had launched the project on November 20, 2007.

Atomic Energy Commission chairman Srikumar Banerjee will commission the Rs. 1,106 crore uranium ore mine and processing plant set up by Uranium Corporation of India at Thummalapalle village in Vemula mandal in Kadapa district on Friday, April 20.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs had cleared the uranium ore mining and processing plant at Thummapalle in August 2007 and then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy laid foundation stone in November that year.

Chennai After months of dilly-dallying and continuous protests by the People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE), the power-starved Tamil Nadu on Monday took a final call on the much-debated Koodankulam nuclear power project issue by announcing it as safe and ordered for speedy measures to commission the plant at the earliest. The decision was announced by chief minister J Jayalalithaa after a cabinet meeting in the morning.

CHENNAI: The Central expert group's report on the Kudankulam nuclear power plant issue has answered all questions raised by protestors and was satisfactory, a senior member of the Tamil Nadu government panel, appointed to look into concerns of the locals, said today.

"We have reviewed all concerns raised by the protestors in our report. We also analysed the central expert group committee's report, which has answered all 44 questions raised by the protestors.
