Fearing quake, U’khand to relocate 101 villages
Dehradun: A day after 18 students died as their school building caved in following landslides, the state government on Friday decided to relocate 101 villages situated in extremely dangerous and seismologically sensitive places across Garhwal and Kumaon regions.
Chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said in Bageshwar that the government had identified the villages on the basis of a survey

Slight intensity earthquake hits Thane
A slight intensity earthquake measuring 2.6 on the Richter Scale hit Thane district in Maharashtra early today.
The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 1.07 am, was at 19.3 degree North latitude and 73.3 degree east longitude, the meteorological department said in New Delhi.
No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far.

Three quakes hit Meghalaya, Assam
Shillong, July 27 (IANS): Three earthquakes shook parts of Meghalaya and Assam within eight hours on Tuesday, triggering panic among residents. No casualties were reported.
The first tremor measuring 4.1 on the Richter Scale with its epicentre at Barpeta region in Assam was felt at 12.43 am in Meghalaya and Assam, an official at the Central Seismological Centre here told IANS.

AASU, TMPK warn of stronger anti-mega dam campaign
GUWAHATI, July 11: The AASU and All Mising Students’ Union (TMPK) have warned Delhi and Dispur of stronger agitation against mega dams in the State.
The AASU and TMPK today reiterated that the government must stop the construction of the mega dam by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) at the Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Project site.

Halt power project on Assam, Arunachal border: Experts
