Union Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh will visit the Narmada valley on April 10 and 11 for a spot assessment of the ground situation. The minister gave this assurance to the Narmada Bachao Andolan members and project affected oustees who held a day-long demonstration outside his office here on Monday to draw his attention to the projects related problems being faced by them.

Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath on Thursday assured Mayor Krishna Gaur who called on him along with the Urban Administration and Development (UAD) Minister Babulal Gaur that the Central Government would provide additional funds for the Narmada project and Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) project of the State capital.

Gandhinagar: Next time you drive along the Narmada canal or a river bed, you are likely to see tall trees. The state government, in a bid to increase tree cover in the non-forest area, has decided to adopt the Anand model of tree plantation in 17 districts in the state.

In Anand, farmers started planting trees along rivers, ponds and even on the boundaries of fields.
