India to be third largest economy by 2020, says top ADB official

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Managing Director General Rajat M Nag on Thursday said that the way India's growing, it is quite possible that by year 2020 it will become world's third largest economy. "In 2008, India ranked world's 12th largest economy at $1.2 trillion.

Development projects launched in Kolar taluk

Legislator Varthur Prakash launched various development projects on Tuesday in K B Hosahalli, Uddippanahalli and Lakshmisagar.

Construction of concrete road at a cost of Rs five lakh in K B Hosahalli, concrete road at a cost Rs 10 lakh in Lakshmisagar and panel board installation to the borewells in Uddippanahalli were the projects inaugurated.

Parekh to head panel on slum redevelopment

The government has decided to refer the draft guidelines of its ambitious Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY), a scheme to make India slum-free, to an independent panel. The eight-member expert panel, headed by HDFC Bank chairman Deepak Parekh, has been asked to give its recommendations within a month from its first meeting.
