CM announces climate research centre for State
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced the establishment of Climate Change Research Centre in the Madhya Pradesh Council for Science and Technology (MPCST) on Monday. “Clarification needed on bio-safety of GM mosquitoes”
Director of Public Health S. Elango on Monday said clarifications were needed on the bio-safety of Genetically Modified (GM) mosquitoes being developed by researchers globally to combat vector-borne diseases such as malaria, chikungunya and dengue.
He said here that public health administrators and governments could not take any chances with GM technology unless safety was assured.

Youngest extra-solar planet found
The youngest extra-solar planet, six times the mass of Jupiter -- 1.9x1027 kg, has been discovered.
The giant planet named BD+20 1790b is only 35 million years old and orbits a young active central star at a distance closer than Mer- cury orbits the sun.
