At least 133 schoolchildren have taken ill in Sirsa and Fatehabad districts of Haryana after consuming iron and folic acid tablets.

Govt doctor tests positive

A government doctor has tested positive for swine flu in Sirsa while ten new suspected cases of the disease have come to the fore in Hisar in the past two days and two suspected cases have been witnessed in Fatehabad. In Hisar, the health authorities collected throat swab samples of six patients yesterday and four patients today. “We have sent throat swab samples of 172 patients to the Central Institute for Communicable Diseases (CICS), Delhi, for testing so far this year. Of these, 62 were found to be positive - 34 from Hisar and 28 from other districts. As many as 11 people have died due to the H1N1 infection in the district.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has made it clear that the proxy legal battles against the land acquisition proceedings will not be entertained.

Another positive case of swine flu has come to light at Khatrawan village in Sirsa. Naseeb Kaur, 60-year-old woman of the village, has been found infected with the H1N1 virus.

Her sample has been found positive, confirmed the Deputy Civil Surgeon, Dr Viresh Bhushan. The woman is getting treatment at a private hospital in Sirsa. This is the sixth confirmed case of swine flu in Sirsa in the current season.
