All that glitters gold Lying in the far eastern corner of Nepal in the district of Taplejung, the Kanchenunga Consevation area is a land of the majestic and endangered snow leopard. Other rare species like musk deer, Himalayan black bear, red panda, leopard, yellow throated martins, blue sheep, and ghoral can be found in this area. Incredibly rich birdlife too. Impeyan pheasant, tragopan, hawk and eagle among many other birds can be sighted here. Forests of rhododendron, fir, pine and larch cover the hills and mountains. Tibet Autonomous Region of China makes up its northern boundary while the state of Sikkim in India borders it on the east. The conservation area is home to the world's third highest peak
