Detergent free wash
• A detergent-free washing machine was recently launched in India. It uses electrolysis to make water alkaline, which removes the acidic dirt.
• Australian researchers discovered de-gassed water can remove dirt from soiled clothes. But further studies would be required to evaluate the efficacy of the method. • Another alternative is the use of laundry balls. These generate strong magnetic fields that break apart water molecules that then remove the dirt. However, critics are not convinced.
