Detergent free wash

  • 30/05/2005

A detergent-free washing machine was recently launched in India. It uses electrolysis to make water alkaline, which removes the acidic dirt. Australian researchers discovered de-gassed water can remove dirt from soiled clothes. But further studies would be required to evaluate the efficacy of the method. Another alternative is the use of laundry balls. These generate strong magnetic fields that break apart water molecules that then remove the dirt. However, critics are not convinced.
