What the prime minister has agreed
Revitalise the National Board for Wildlife/request he prime minister will head the steering committee of Project Tiger
Convert the Project Tiger directorate into a statutory authority under the Union ministry of environment and forests (MoEF)
Create the wildlife crime bureau immediately under the MoEF.
Do the next census (planned for November 2005) of tigers and habitat using the new methodology, suggested by MoEF and endorsed by the Tiger Task Force. Present independent audit report to the Parliament in six months, which will rate state performance on different criteria.
Finalise the plan for relocation of villages from key tiger habitats within one year, with its financial and logistical implications
Prepare the plan for coexistence. This is to be done by each tiger reserve within one year so that benefits of conservation can be shared with local communities
Share the benefits of tourism with local communities using the recommendations of the Task Force.
