Township`s benefits questioned

Township`s benefits questioned Why are you opposed to the township?
The Japanese are coming to make money for themselves. We do not agree this will benefit Karnataka or India. Moreover, the government has been so secretive about the nature and features of the township. The chief minister has given contradictory information.

What are the contradiction?
Moily has informed legislators only 162 ha are needed. An English newspaper says about 3,600 ha would be needed. Our own investigations say 20 villages in Sathanur and Bidadi, covering nearly 4,050 ha, will be acquired.

So what if this land is acquired?
About 70,000 people will be displaced. The Japanese intend to have exclusive water supply from the Cauvery and about 10 tanks in the area. This will exacerbate the drinking water scarcity in Bangalore city as well as affect irrigation in the nearby rural areas.

What other fears do you have?
The Japanese will have exclusive schools, recreation centres and other facilities. It will be like a mini-Japan inside India, governed by its own regulations, just like the Vatican in Rome. This is culturally very dangerous.
