ETOSHO, the place of dry water: the film is intended to be educative, in the National Geographic genre, featuring gobs of painstaking wildlife photography and a relatively simple message on why water is so valuable for life. The superb photography is complemented with an often humorous and well-paced commentary. For some reason, it still seems rather incomplete: what on Earth is the place of dry water?
Another film, Echiona, offers ornithological information and then gets down to discussing the natural processes that aye causing avian extinction. In terms of research and photography, the film is impressive. The footage can quite easily be reorganised into a number of short, cohesive films aimed at different audiences. In many ways, it is a wonderful film for children, but at 70 minutes it's a bit longwinded.
