Gastronomic setback Australians will have less of the fish they like to eat. Catch limits of six popular fish species in South-East Trawl Fishery, the main supplier for the Sydney and Melbourne markets, have been cut for 2005. Decreasing stocks is the reason behind the move. The cut applies to the flathead, orange roughy, ling, blue grenadier, redfish and school shark.

Richard McLoughlin of the Australian Fisheries Management Authority says the cut would also increase prices: But supply is critical here and has to be guaranteed for the long-term. Fishing quotas for the mirror dory and spotted waehou, however, have been increased.
