Koalas in danger
AUSTRALIA is losing its koala bears, says the Australian Koala Foundation, a conservation group. "If nothing is done, there will not be any koalas in 30 years time," warns Deborah Tabart, spokesperson of the group.
Losing the koalas will indeed be tragic for Australia. Not only is this cute ball of fur the national symbol of Australia, it is also worth millions of dollars to the Australian tourism industry as they are a major attraction for foreigners, especially the Japanese. In fact, a Japanese tourist operator has reportedly confided to Tabart that his people would rather go to Hawaii if there were no koalas left in Australia.
