new biofertiliser: Hyderabad-based Pratistha Industries Limited has come up with an indigenous technology to produce biofertiliser and protein-rich animal feed from maize waste. This technology has already been marketed by a Secunderabad-based entrepreneur, said K V S S Sriram, managing director of the company. The Thapar Corporate Research and Development Centre for Technology is funding the research for the commercialisation of the technology. The amino-acids-based product, Suryamin, accelerates photosynthesis and increases chlorophyll content by 13 per cent and crop yield by 20 to 30 per cent. low-emission car: The North American unit of Nissan Motor Company said it is in the final process of certifying a gasoline-fuelled, "super ultra-low emission vehicle' for the year 2000 model. The certification will be done in California, company officials said. The car will hit the market as a part of the year-2000 model range. Nissan said the 1.8 litre version of its 2000 Sentra compact Sedan will emit about one-fourth of the unburned hydrocarbons and one-tenth of the oxides of nitrogen emissions of the cleanest gasoline-powered car sold in California today.
