Centre for tough steps
Faced with growing pressure from the Left parties and the Opposition on rising prices of essential commodities, the government on Wednesday said it would not hesitate to take tough measures to control inflation. Intervening during a discussion in the Lok Sabha on price rise, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said the government was even ready to sacrifice revenue for controlling inflation. However, his intervention saw members of the Left parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samajwadi Party staging a walk-out.
