Karat retains party post, third alternative on top of his mind
THE CPM on Monday declared that it will begin efforts to forge an alternative to the Congress and the BJP. Mr Prakash Karat, who was re-elected as the CPM's general secretary at the party congress here, said a new front was required to combat the BJP and the Congress. "We have to immediately create a third alternative which can offer the people a policy platform distinct from the two mainstream political forces led by the Congress and the BJP,' Mr Karat said while addressing the concluding session of the party congress.
