Climate change is now a human rights issue

Climate change is now officially a human rights issue. The un Human Rights Council on March 28 endorsed a resolution recognizing that global warming threatens the livelihoods and welfare of many of the world's most vulnerable people.

The proposal, submitted by the Maldives, Comoros, Tuvalu, Micronesia and other low-lying countries, cited that small island nations, coastal areas and parts of the world prone to floods, drought and desertification, are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. The proposal called for a "detailed analytical study of the relationship between climate change and human rights'.
