China in English
Sina.com, one of the most popular online destinations in China, has launched an English-language website to meet the global demand for news about the recent earthquake in the country. The news website, which already claims around 800 million views per day, intends to offer "comprehensive coverage of current events,' a spokesperson for the site said.
Sina.com also features a call for donations to help victims of the Sichuan Province earthquake and details of organisations helping with the rescue effort. "Over the longer term, we intend to make this site a window for easy access to information about China,' said Sina's chief executive Charles Chao.
The site, mirrors the main Sina site with video and photo content.
