Environment program 20032007
This report compiles in one volume a snapshot of ADB's strategies, assistance, and lending activities to address the environment-development nexus in Asia and the Pacific. It describes development trends in the region, characterized by rapid economic growth in certain countries and a slower pace in other countries, the continued widespread incidence of poverty, and accompanying environmental problems and issues. It presents ADB's environmental assistance programs as of the end of 2007, with examples of projects across environment subthemes most of which were approved from 2003 to 2007. It also provides an account of major environmental initiatives ADB supports and partnerships forged to catalyze assistance to DMCs, complementing and supplementing the ADB assistance It outlines the priority areas for ADB assistance to promote environmentally sustainable growth in the region.
