DESTRUCTIVE DAM
The United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights (UNCHR), has been asked to take action against the construction of Kalabagh dam on the Indus river in Pakistan. Liberation, a European non-governmental organisation, stated that the proposed dam would lead to an environment disaster. "Kalabagh dam will raise the water table and increase water logging, it will accelerate deforestation and soil erosion and will also adversely affect the flora and fauna, leading to the extinction of many species including the Pala fish,' officials of the Liberation stated.
