KENYA
A local authority of Kenya has recently admitted that it is discharging effluents into Lake Victoria. Kisumu city municipal council pollutes the lake because its sewage treatment plant stopped working many years ago. "I admit that we discharge raw sewage into the lake, as our sewage treatment plant broke down many years ago,' said the city's mayor Shakeel Shabir. He observed that environmental issues were not a priority for people living around the lake as their major challenge was meeting basic needs of life.
