Power distribution reforms off for now
Subhash Narayan NEW DELHI IN YET another setback to the distribution reforms in the power sector, the government's Accelerated Power Development & Reforms Programme (APDRP) may fail to meet the deadline yet again. The APDRP scheme aims to reduce aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses of utilities to 15% within five years. Sharp inter-ministerial differences over extending budgetary support to state utilities has resulted in the government deferring a decision on the matter and constituting a group of ministers (GoM) to evolve a consensus.
