Nayagaon has no land for city centre
With unauthorised expansion already consuming more than 50 per cent of the total area under the Nayagaon Nagar Panchayat, the Punjab government has not found any plot available for a city centre in Nayagaon. The draft Master Plan of Nayagaon-2021 proposes only a district centre as a greenfield project. Though spatial planning of Nayagaon is constrained by many factors, which none of the new towns in Chandigarh's periphery have faced so far, the Department of Local Government has felt the need for a planned future growth and development of Nayagaon.
