Load shedding lifted, thanks to wind energy
T. Ramakrishnan CHENNAI: Availability of a substantial quantum of wind energy has made a difference to the power supply position, with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) lifting load shedding all over the State on Tuesday afternoon. Since Sunday, Chennai and suburban areas did not have load shedding. TNEB officials attribute the relaxation of the system to the availability of more power. On Tuesday evening (around 6-40 p.m.), about 1,500 megawatt of power was produced. Throughout the day, the wind power generation was in the range of 1,000 MW-1,500 MW.
