Soft drink and bottled water are the only industries that do not pay a single paisa for raw material. Soft drinks have to be completely free from pesticides. The government of India has already convened an urgent meeting to fix standards on the basis of this report.
PRITHVIRAJ CHAVAN
member (Rajya Sabha), Congress (I)
The health of the people is most important. More than any other consideration. The government of India did not address this adequately. We need world-class food safety laws to address the modern issues. Government should act very soon and come out with standards on the basis of our report.

This report will go a long way in addressing the public health concerns and to create a new atmosphere of regulatory authority.
SANJAY NIRUPAM
member (Rajya Sabha), Shiv Sena
If other countries do not have any regulations, it does not mean that even India will not have them. Nobody, including the multinational corporations, is above the law. They will have to follow the new regulations in our country. By September/October the government will have to report to the Parliament about the action taken on the basis of this report.
