Global climate disclosure framework for automotive companies
Climate change is increasingly recognised as a key issue for the automotive sector. According to figures from the International Energy Agency, transport is responsible for around 18% of all carbon emissions, with autos (light-duty vehicles) accounting for approximately 10%. The risks and opportunities for carbon reduction strategies for this sector are therefore considerable and warrant particular attention from investors. This disclosure framework focuses on the business issues and indicators specific to the auto sector, and can be used as a reporting tool through both the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
