Study meeting on quality and safety standards for fruit and vegetables: Taiwan country report
In recent years, the growing international trade in agricultural products has motivated farmers to pay close attention to pest quarantine problems and agrochemical residues in foods. Agrochemical residues in agricultural products are a major consumer health concern and can seriously damage trade between countries. The Taiwan government has established a comprehensive system for monitoring agrochemical residues on products. To ensure that chemical residue monitoring becomes a standard and widespread practice and that the results are sufficiently representative, AFA, TACTRI and various corresponding offices in city and county governments now routinely conduct annual consultations to plan for crop types, areas, sample numbers and division of sampling work.
