Cyber combat
The Peru-Ecuador war is now travelling down the superhighway of information, with the Ecuadorian government bamboozling its bete noire by putting government communiques and local press clippings on the Internet, providing graphic details of their version of the conflict. Initially nonplussed, the Peruvian foreign ministry recovered swiftly and launched the counter-offensive. Its own Internet immediately set up a "cyber soldier" to neutralize enemy propaganda. Its data was dismissed by the Ecuadorian Internet association as "grotesque and bellicose". At present the 2 camps are busy filling up the cyberspace with "soldiers" to intensify the encounter.
