Air Pollution

Two-stroke engines are adding to air pollution in Karachi, say newspaper reports. According to experts, these engines fitted in motorcycles, rickshaws and several thousand four-wheelers are contributing more than 50 per cent of the air pollution, particularly in more congested areas of the city. Inter-sections, where air pollution is the highest, include bus-stops at: Empress Market, Boulton Market,Lasbella Bridge, Shahrah-i-Quaideen, Preedy Street, besides Chundrigur road crossing with M A Jinnah Road and the crossing on Ziauddin Road. A minor air pollution threat also developed at Shahrah-i-Faisal, especially near the airport turning and Malir crossing.
