WATER PROPOSAL

A 10-year US $4.76 billion rehabilitation and development plan for water supply, sewerage and drainage has been submitted by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to the city district government of Lahore in Pakistan. The agency has also proposed procurement of 400,000 water meters at a cost of Rs 800 million for installation on all the water supply connections in the city to increase its revenue. The agency plans to bore 250 new tubewells during the next 10 years at a cost of Rs1 billion. WASA proposes to spend Rs 300 million on the rehabilitation and augmentation of its primary water supply grid.
