CHECKING POPS
The Pakistani ministry of environment & urban affairs is likely to prepare a roster of experts on persistent organic pollutants {POPs) to keep a watch over their effects on human health. Although the country has put a ban on import of POPs, these pollutants find a way into the agricultural produce probably through smuggling. In the past few years, POPs have seriously affected human health in the country. Therefore, a need to collect information and analyse their implications is being voiced by the environment-sensitive community.
