Costly garbage
people will soon have to pay more for solid waste. Trash facility operators in Virginia will be charged a higher fee of us $5 per tonne of solid waste.
Virginia governor Mark Warner announced this recently. To implement this, he would soon move to amend a state Senate solid waste bill, which is expected to add us $76 million to state coffers.
The money thus collected would be used for open space preservation, water quality improvement, recycling, solid waste management and clean up of abandoned sites. Taking a leaf from Virginia, the Pennsylvania is also considering a hike in its solid waste fee from us $3.25per tonne to us $5 per tonne.
